The catalyst photo of my Industrial Introverts series. I found this clipboard hanging in a nonpublic area of the building that I have my art studio in. It caught my eye and I photographed it. While looking through the lens I marveled at it's beauty. Upon closer inspection I noticed that it was a water log for the boiler and the last entry was 15 years prior. A true piece of industrial art. The weathered paper, the lighting, the wall color, everything was perfect to showcase this Industrial Introvert.

I found this guy lurking in the shadows of the building where my studio is. The more I look at this photo I took, the more I see a reflection of myself. So, this became a self portrait.

I was named Trace because it was close to tres (3) or tre in Italian. Yes, I was named after the number 3. Born on the 3rd, I was also the third child for each of my parents (who were previously married and each had 2 kids), and I was third son in the family.

Bldg 3. is not only where I have my art studio, but it also speaks of Building 3(Trace) - me growing and developing in my own art career.

This guy is crowned with X—X (X Bar X)
X—X is the brand for my grandfather's cattle ranch. He was one of my best friends. His ranch and our adventures definitely have influenced a lot of my artwork.

I walked into a client’s shop one day an saw all of these coffee cups sitting on the bench. It was such a great sight that I grabbed my camera and took their picture.

I came back a few months later and they were gone. I asked, “Where did the all of the cups go?”

He replied, “That was winter, I cleaned up since then.”

As I was walking up to my studio on the third floor one morning, I found this piece of joy that someone placed along my path.

Another beautiful industrial find just sitting there waiting for it's photo to be taken. This proud water valve stands tall next to his stubby sidekick who had been capped off some time ago. Despite his friend's shortcomings, they will stand as friends forever.

I found this dirty old shop broom sitting innocently on top of the little red square as if it was hiding the fact that all of the days dirt had been swept under instead of swept up.

The job had been completed. The last card had been punched and became no longer relevant. The end of an era. The gloves have been thrown down, not in defiance, but in the satisfaction that the lifelong job had been done well. It was the end of a chapter and undoubtedly the beginning of the next one.

Deep inside the cavernous basement, there is evidence that some of the previous inhabitants were obviously Influenced by the great postwar abstract expressionist painters.
